High cholesterol — what to do
A bad cholesterol test is unsettling, and there rarely seems to be a drug-free fix. But here it isn't a diet that helps — it's a specific food with proven clinical effects.
What the science says
Ho et al., 2016, European Journal of Clinical Nutrition — a meta-analysis of 14 RCTs, n=615. Additionally: Bays et al. (2021) — CRP ↓28%, IL-6 ↓21%.
How Talbina relates to this
Barley beta-glucans are soluble dietary fiber. In the gut they form a viscous gel that slows cholesterol absorption and binds bile acids, forcing the body to draw more cholesterol from the blood to make new ones. The effect is dose-dependent — the optimum is around 3 g of beta-glucans a day.
Talbina is a whole-grain barley porridge made to a Sunnah recipe, with no additives or sweeteners. Barley and the beta-glucans described above are its foundation.
