High blood sugar and prediabetes — what to do
Borderline glucose readings rarely get attention until it's too late. Barley is one of the few foods with direct clinical data on lowering blood sugar.
What the science says
Tosh & Bordenave, 2020, Frontiers in Nutrition — a review of 11 RCTs, 403 patients with type 2 diabetes. Barley outperforms oats on antidiabetic effect by 1.6x (Behall et al., 2006).
How Talbina relates to this
Barley's soluble fiber slows glucose absorption in the small intestine, smoothing out post-meal blood sugar spikes. It's a food, not a substitute for treatment — diabetes always calls for consulting an endocrinologist.
Talbina is a whole-grain barley porridge made to a Sunnah recipe, with no additives or sweeteners. Barley and the beta-glucans described above are its foundation.
