Excess weight — what the science says about barley
Diets deliver a short-lived effect and quickly reverse. A Japanese study found that the real driver isn't restriction — it's satiety.
What the science says
Shimizu et al., 2008, Otsuma Women's University — 44 men, 12 weeks. Satiety on barley was higher than on oatmeal: +64% vs. +38% after 4 hours.
How Talbina relates to this
Barley's beta-glucans increase the viscosity of stomach contents, slowing gastric emptying — satiety lasts longer, and overall daily calorie intake decreases naturally.
Sources
Talbina is a whole-grain barley porridge made to a Sunnah recipe, with no additives or sweeteners. Barley and the beta-glucans described above are its foundation.
